Woolly: I won’t be joining Woking

MIDFIELDER Rob Wolleaston has told Echosport there is “no chance” he will join Woking this summer.

The 31-year-old was pictured playing for the Cards against an Arsenal XI last Friday but he still insists Weymouth is where his future lies.

Wolleaston said: “I only played in that game in order to keep fit.

“Brendon King told me to try and train somewhere close to where I live and I have known the manager at Woking, Garry Hill, since my time with him at Rushden & Diamonds.

“I am still hoping to be down at Weymouth but George Rolls is on holiday at the moment and I am just waiting for everything to get sorted out.

“There is no chance I will be joining Woking.”

The ex-Chelsea playmaker was hoping to travel down today to take on a strong West Ham United XI at the Bob Lucas Stadium (3pm) but he is currently suffering with a throat infection.

He added: “I have spoken to Brendon and told him I will not be able to make it down.

“It is a shame because it would have been great to have played in that match but Brendon has told me just to come down when I can.”

First-team squad players Marek Stech and Frank Nouble are in line to turn out for the Hammers this afternoon along with Junior Stanislas if he passes a late fitness test.

Olly Lee and George Moncur, the sons of ex-West Ham midfielders Rob Lee and John Moncur, are also expected to feature, along with England Under-18s striker Robert Hall.

King said: “The chance to see some international players in action does not come around very often so it promises to be a great occasion.

“West Ham are renowned for their massive production line of players and this afternoon we could see a few big stars in the making with several of them expected to break into the first-team squad this season.

“Obviously, it is going to be a difficult game but it is also another training session for us as we continue to prepare for Cambridge City on August 13.

“It will also be important that those lads that get substituted or are on the bench sit and watch West Ham and take in what they do both in possession and off the ball.

“Sometimes you can learn just as much from that as you can on the pitch and I will be stressing that to them all before kick-off.”

Ex-Southampton youngster Ben Martin will be included in the Terras’ squad along with Ben Gerring and Kyle Bassett, who are both scheduled to take part in a trial at Stockport County tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Richard Marshallsay and Sam Poole are both expected to put pen to paper on one-year contracts this afternoon after having agreed terms earlier this week.

Admission for today’s game is £10 for adults, £7 for concessions and £2.50 for children without a ‘Kids for a Quid’ voucher, which can be downloaded from the club’s official website at theterras.co.uk/home All monies after expenses will go towards King’s playing budget for the forthcoming campaign.
